I close my eyes, and the next thing ... WHOOSH. I didn't see what hit me

Glorious music. Enrapturing emotions. Boy. It was one interesting weekend.
Bring on the flash backs :)

Friday

Exam halls. Papers. Big clocks. Dim lights. Not a good combination for an English final examination. Nottingham gave us a start by having our last English exam for the semester in no place other than the Great Hall. Talk about Harry Potterness.

Of course. It was English. What can be expected done when its English? So what did we do? We lazed. We looked like a bunch of junkies, completely high. I guess the whole sleep deprivation we were all experiencing due to our assignments kinda showed on our faces.

Lazing on Nottingham's admin building floor. Now thats something to talk about. Lazing. It's what we do best.

And then of course, you have the band practice that night that went on till' one in the morning. Obviously mom went off the charts with it. Typical.

Saturday

The day of the performance. Annexe gallery. Arts for Grabs.

And moral studies finals.

Ms. Evans and her lack of being considerate. Sigh. 75 questions of pure nonsense. Everyone exited the exam hall with a blank expression. When asked, how'd it go? The common reply: Oh. It was fine.

Sarcastically.

My sister and I made our way to the annexe gallery and the place did not disappoint. Feera. We have to have prom here. We have to. It was a gorgeous place. The performances went well. We had loads of fun doing it. A lot of the times we messed up because we burst out laughing due to the fact that we were constantly lost for words. But all in all, people liked us. They liked the songs we did. And I guess what matters the most is that we had fun. Something I haven't had in a long time.

Plus. Arts for Grabs was having an Aikido exhibition, training thing that Thessa, Jie (my sister) and I took part in. We learnt how to defend ourselves if we get attacked. Flipping people is fun.

No one was hurt. Neither was I.

Sunday

Sunday was a disappointment. I didn't follow through with my performances. I bailed. Well, not willingly. I fell sick.

Cough.

Sneeze.

Tough luck. Dad came home anyways. We went through our regular 'welcome back home dad' routine and went for early morning Dim Sum. Who can complain? That night it was my beloved cousin, Arvin's 21st birthday, and the whole family came together and celebrated it with him. Later on, Transformers was playing on TV but the uncles and aunts wanted to spend quality time together. It was hilarious. The cousins formed a force field around the TV to protect the off button, but dad just walked through and switched it off.

Thanks to Praveena, we had rounds of charades. Something we haven't done as a huge family for sometime. Best part, Praveena is a specimen I will never try to understand who has a creativity scope of an elephant. Her categories were mind blowing. A town in Malaysia, historical landmarks, song titles from the 80's. You try acting stuff like that out.

The rest of the week

Shopping. Singing. "Studying".

Wow. 3 s's.That was unexpected.

Sales everywhere. I couldn't resist. What with the walking wallet (dad) permitting me to purchase whatever I wanted.

The Bahai Regional Conference is coming up. Bring on the choir practices. The ushering tasks. The outbursts of incontrollable children. crap. I feel faint.
Jan 8. And so the finals begin. No holidaying around this year.

And I'm still captivated by you. And you know it.

You gotta like the sound of that.

And the end has come.

This is it. 3 more days. 3 more days and the torture is over. 3 more days.

College. Couldn't wait for it in high school. Can't wait to get out of it when its over. sheesh.

10 commitments. (2 presentations + 1 demonstration +7 assignments) later.

Wanna know what mankind's biggest problem is? The disability to be satisfied. Many would agree with me when I say that when in high school, we cant wait to get out of the uniformity and the tight discipline; all to get into college and party till' the break of dawn. Well, my wee friends out there who think this is so now ... Guess what. Think again. College life? Well, yeah, there's the parties and the societies and the awesome people. But we tend to forget the other important things. Things like never-ending lectures and frazzling assignments. Not forgetting the dreaded presentations. Dressing in a formal attire isn't something I'd complain about, obviously. I mean, looking at all those guys with em' snazzy outfits, that's fabulous ... but getting an outfit that works? It may look easy, but trust me, it's not. I know a number of people, girls in specific who had to peak into their mom's closet and work something out.

But anyhow, thats college for you.

Now, in the past week, I have been, of course, busy working on those nauseating assignments, but I did manage to fit in some time to do some other things, thankfully. :) Last night for instance. I spent 8 hours not doing my work. and you know what? I'm proud that I did! Instead of putting my head into them books, I had a band (well sort of a band. do you call it a band if they're all guitarists? :P) practice. I had some fun at it. Seeing my old high school mates after a much prolonged time. My boys from may back when. Hard to believe we started performing about 3 years ago. The boys saw mom and the conversation went a lil' ... strange.

Mom: "Oh, you boys are here!"
Nadia: "Yes mom, you can go now." (she was heading out)
Mom: "So have I met you boys before?"
Hazreen: "Yes aunty. You have."
Nadia: "Yeah mom. Like three years ago."
Mom: "And where was this?"
Nadia: "They performed with me. Three years ago. You were there. You watched."
Mom: "I did?"
Nadia: "Yes mom. You did."

There we go. There's mom's short term memory for you.

8 hours later, we didn't see much progress. With the fact that all our music tastes were completely different: Joel and his love of emo pop rock, Hazreen's way-back-when music and love for all things Metallica, plus Leong and his confused knowledge of the music world. Amazing how I managed to team up with them.

But still, I love em' boys. Thanks for letting me be apart of everything! :)

OOH!, big update. Come to the annexe gallery this weekend on the 20th and the 21st for the arts for grabs christmas special! I'm performing a couple of songs on both days so come and support! :) Its something I've never done before, and I'm pretty nervous about it. Come, come! :)

It's gonna be pretty awesome. There's a bazaar selling loads of stuff. plus, the cafe I'm performing at! :)

Here's the map in case you're actually planning on coming. :D

So come one, come all!

You gotta like the sound of that.

Foggy Eyes

Sipping my peppermint tea, in a glass flask, looking up for meaning of words like rapacious and recalcitrant. God. Talk about my boring Friday night. Sheesh.

Oh, did you know eyeballs can get fogged up? I just did it. Trust me. It works. :P

This self-assess English portfolio thing is a pain in the butt. One would think once you can speak English, you need not study it anymore. Boy was i wrong. But, credit goes to Ms. A for getting my attention back to the subject. After all, were it not for her, I wouldn't dream of actually placing some form of effort on the portfolio.

But jeez louise.
Portfolios?
Never again.

Ever.

Anywho ... After classes today Sze Lin sent me to Leisure Mall where i got my hands on some elianto products :) Make up, nail polish... ooh. a girl's paradise. Best part: I met an old debate apprentice of mine, Vivien, who happened to be the salesgirl there. Sad to say, due to the fact that I knew her, she managed to persuade me to buy more than I needed. But hell, I ain't complaining.

20 minutes later it became Nadia plus 4 new nail polishes, nail polish remover, pressed powder, foundation cream, bronzer, facial cleanser, toner and moisturizer.

trust me.
you don't wanna know how much it came up to.
oh. and this has to be said.

Ariza Ariza! look at the new nail polish i bought! :)

you gotta like the sound of that.

My beloved

This first post is devoted entirely to my recent fiancé:

ms. Wan Ili Elfeera

my partner in crime of constant cartoon blabbing and book thrashing.

This is the woman I absolutely adore. (plus the others in my life: Ariza and Khas, don't get offended kay'!) The oddity behind it all is the fact that I only met this woman 8 months ago. Thankfully, she's there for me through and through, be it whether its time for those ruddy assignment or my plain old PMS-days.

With that, Feera - pip - chuckles. Thank you. For dealing with my stupidity involving all things blog-like. :)

woman.
I owe you.
You, me and a chocolate candy bar.

you gotta like the sound of that.
